Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global break, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
In the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's latest record, the new release, is available on Friday.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he added.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.
I still think this game will be quite close, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
A family member told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.
They have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not going to do that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
